In response to the needs of many young people who put themselves and others at risk through what the media call 'binge drinking', ICC established an initiative in Glasgow City centre in November 2005, called 'Binge Buddies'.

Since then the 'Buddies Bus' has been parked in Sauchiehall street most Saturday nights from 12:30am - 3.45am. Teams of volunteers including some from St. Andrews Ambulance are based on the Bus offering care and assistance for those who want it. This is done through chat; support; advice; giving out lollipops; giving bottle tops, so drinks can't be spiked; and offering a safe place to chill out on the Bus.

The impact binge drinking can have on young people's lives is familiar to us from news reports - the reality of what can happen to Young people in the streets while out drinking is one which we dare not ignore. This project offers a positive provision for some young people, with Christian care and concern.
